Virginia and Carlos wanted their paper design to seamlessly integrate into the environment of San Miguel Allende without disappearing into it. Their hope was that each experience of the paper goods would communicate a quiet reverence for the moment and would reflect not just imagery but the sensations of the setting.
I decided to lean into a monochromatic palette and focused on texture as a way of adding variation and interest. I created a warm, neutral stone-like texture which became a through line for the suite, gently differentiating the warm cotton invitation card from the translucent rice paper liner, to the ivory foil of the pocket envelope. I also created a pattern inspired by Otomi folk patterns, which wove its way in various forms throughout the invitation suite and the wedding day paper. The details card was the star of the suite, and featured 4 printing techniques, including a sculpted emboss depiction of the venue. We brought this image back for the wedding day menus which sat below etched terracotta place card tiles. We also created ceramic table numbers, escort cards and bar signs which were flanked by the most stunning florals by La Musa de la Flores.
