In my initial call with my clients, I pay attention to what lights them up the most, and try to find that same inspiration within myself. When I spoke with Nera for the first time, she gushed about her and Jim's love of neoclassical art. As I listened to her speak, I was transported back to my own experience when I walked the ruins of Pompei for the first time as a twenty year old; When I was so close to the frescos I could touch them; the depictions of the goddess venus so vivid despite being worn by the textures of time; The pottery lining the stone walls, varying in shapes and styles and hues of terracotta; The frieze sculpture emerging from cracked stone. These visuals were the entry point for Nera and Jim's designs, the most prominent being the ancient Mediterranean garden fresco. I knew even before creating their invitation suite that the painting I created for them would be a statement moment in their wedding decor. It was a backdrop that set the stage but didn't dominate, the quiet container of the event design.

With every piece of work we create, we seek to ensure each detail brings yet another element of magic to life. The case was no different with Justine & David’s celebration at the Rosewood Miramar. We worked closely with Lynden Lane Events to create an ambiance that boasted a chic Parisian fete meets contemporary Montecito.

The cocktail our was inspired by a French Bistro, where guests were welcomed with an array of artful touches quintessential to the scene. Our floral paintings were designed to elegantly mirror the cascading arrangements by flower artist Mindy Rice and were installed throughout the celebration. First, introduced as panels on the bar and later on the dinner menus and wallpaper of the after-party. As live jazz played, guests were welcomed to a delectable chocolate shop escort card display, where custom truffles were adorned with our floral illustration. Featured upon the guests’ coaster were their names and table numbers.

For an unexpected twist, the menus featured a password that served as an invitation to their lively speakeasy after party. Guests were introduced to the roaring twenties soiree with the fitting signage we created, as live dancers led them through to the cake room. There, featuring panels of my custom-designed wallpaper, and finally into the modern-day speakeasy to keep the unforgettable celebration going all night.
