Lauren and Ted were attracted to a style that felt contemporary, dramatic and high fashion with a nod to art deco glam and the mid-century modern design of their venue. I approached the design by creating a pattern inspired by the architecture of Montage Healdsburg, narrowing in on a bold, high contrast palette, and layering different materials and textures that felt contemporary and unexpected.

For the save the date, I was inspired by the format and composition of a designer clutch purse, (seen in the mood board) and used a sleek black paper with a leather-like texture, gold accents and a striking debossed logo. For the invitation suite, we created a custom envelope with a magnetic enclosure, black on black foil, and brought back the leather-like paper in navy blue. A bold geometric pattern with emboss and foil added texture and dimension, and gold accents on the invitation card and envelope added the perfect elevated and slightly glam touch.

For the wedding day paper and signage, we leaned heavily on the use of different materials to add variety and interest. Our favorite part of the project was the tin type cocktail sign. We worked closely with a photographer to set up a still life that incorporated the couple's signature cocktails as well as a horseshoe and car keys (symbolizing the couples love of horseback riding and race cars). Using a photographic technique from the 1800's, we captured the image on a sheet of tin and inset this inside a custom made and engraved wood frame. These signs paired beautifully with brass engraved beer and wine signs. Other highlights from the day were the black menus which were embossed and foil printed and sat under etched brass name cards; engraved wood table numbers which were color filled in gold; and personalized escort boxes which enclosed caviar canapés (a tribute to the groom's late mother).
