One of the silver linings of the pandemic was that I had the pleasure of getting to know Joy Proctor. Our text messages often consisted of creative musings, and soon we found ourselves collaborating on a dream project that took place at Aman Kyoto, Japan.

We were inspired by Kyoto in the fall, water gardens, and the raw, natural textures of wabi sabi design. I created a detailed water lotus painting to be used as a background and patterning details. For the invitation card, I used a plaster painting technique I learned from my days as a wallpaper designer and  added delicate patina washes and bronze foil printing. The details booklet was made from dip dyed, letterpress-printed ricepaper, stitched in a japanese stab binding technique. The invite card and details booklet were placed in custom green silk boxes.

The suite was photographed by Christina McNeill.
