The towering redwood trees, moss-covered terrain, and foliage-forward landscaping of Canyon Ranch Woodside create a world apart, where you are instantly enveloped in peace and enchanted by nature. My designs echoed that feeling, with every detail guests would touch utilizing natural, grounding elements.
Inspired by the zen-like atmosphere of the grounds, I created a painting using elements of Traditional Japanese textile design– the play between decorative, stylized shapes and painterly washes; natural colors interspersed with bold, unexpected colors; and a juxtaposition of flat, graphic shapes with spacial depth.
For the invitation suite, I created wood inlay and engraved announcement cards paired with a nature inclusions details card. These elements were striking against the background of my painting which was used as the liner.
The wooden escort cards served multiple purposes: a guide through the woods to each seat and coasters for soothing cups of tea.
For the garden lunch tablescape, we wanted to let the patterned green dishes by casa de perin to take center stage. We layered translucent ricepaper on letterpressed menus and rested glazed, engraved placecards on top to create depth and the perfect touch of drama.
For the inside dinner table, we brought the majestic outdoors of Canyon Ranch Woodside in, my hand-painted landscape art and wooden place cards. A mesmerizing arrangement of foraged mosses and otherworldly greenery trailed down the tables, as if leading the way back into nature.
